2023年４月時点で，日本人歴37年，小学校教員歴12年です。
１年間仕事を休業し，海外で生活することにしました。
その際，「自己啓発等休業制度」を利用し，民間の海外インターンシップ（インターナショナル・インターンシップ・プログラムス）に申し込みました。
インターンシップ先は現地の小学校を希望しました。
インターンシップは自分の職種と違う企業等で新たな経験を積むこともできますが，私は日本の小学校教員として海外の小学校生活を体験したかったからです。
そのなかで，気付いたこと，考えたことを発信しています。
当ブログで伝えたいことは次の2つです。
① 知らない世界を知ることはとても楽しい（中毒性あり）
② 知らない世界を知るには時間と金が必要（休業という選択もアリ）
海外に行かれたことがある人は「日本と違う！」と思った経験があると思います。
海外で生活してみて，「日本でずっと暮らしているから気付いたことだな」「学校で働いているから気付いたことだな」と思うことがありました。
しかし，
私は37年間の人生で，31年間は地元で，他県には６年間住んでいた経験しかありません。
「日本の小学校」といっても，私は自分が小学生時代に通った小学校１校，教育実習でお世話になった地元外の学校２校，講師として勤めた１校，教諭として勤めた４校，計８校しか知りません。
「イギリスの小学校」といっても，１校を拠点として，他の学校数校に１～２回行った程度です。
便宜上「日本」「イギリス」や，「日本の小学校」「イギリスの小学校」と呼んでおりますが，私の狭い世界で知っている範囲の日本のことや学校のことを指しております。
「私の住んでいるところは違う」「私の知っている学校は違う」等と思われる点があるかもしれません。
不勉強な点は教えていただけるとありがたいです。

I’m a primary school teacher in Japan. I decided to take a year off from work and live abroad because I wanted to broaden my horizons.
I applied for a private overseas internship using the “self-development leave system”, which is a system that allows employees to return to their previous workplace after taking leave.
I wanted to do an internship at a local primary school. Internships allow you to gain new experience at a company that is different from your working role, but I wanted to experience primary school life overseas to see what the differences and similarities were.
In this blog I am posting what I noticed and my thoughts on my new experiences.
There are two things I would like to convey in this blog:
① Learning about the unknown world is fun (also very addictive!).
② Time, money and I believe a sense of adventure are required to learn about the unknown world (if you wanted to travel extensively for a long period of time taking a leave of absence is also an option).
If you’ve ever travelled overseas, you’ve probably thought, “It’s different from my country!”
I decided to travel for a year my journey started in the UK and I will be here up until December, then I go to Finland, and New Zealand before I make my way home back to Japan.
What I found that by living abroad it broadens your mind and you see many things from different perspectives.
When I talk about “Japanese primary schools,” I mean one primary school that I attended when I was in primary school, two schools outside my hometown that I attended during my teaching training, one school that I worked at as an instructor, and four schools where I worked as a teacher. This would be 8 schools in total.
Even though I say “English primary schools”, I only worked in one school, which was my base and went to other schools in the city once or twice.
For convenience in this blog I use the terms “Japanese primary schools,” and “English primary schools.”
I am writing articles based on what I have learnt, experienced and my thoughts on the subject matter.
Please note I don’t know everything about schools in Japan or other countries.
